What is this year's prompt?

The 2025 prompt is "Eat the Problem". Design a BioMonster that consumes something harmful in the environment, such as pollution, toxins, or invasive species, and helps restore balance through a creative biological process.

Who can enter the competition?

Middle and high school students worldwide between the ages of 12 and 18 at the time of submission.

Do I need to pay to enter?

No. The competition is completely free to enter.

Can I submit more than one entry?

No. Each student is allowed to submit only one entry.

How do I enter the competition?

A parent or legal guardian must complete the submission form on the BioMonsters website. Teachers may also submit on behalf of students with a signed permission form.

When does the competition start and end?

Submissions open on Monday, April 28, 2025, and close at 11:59 PM GMT on Friday, June 6, 2025.

Can a teacher submit on behalf of a student?

Yes, with a signed permission form from the student’s parent or guardian. The form must be uploaded during submission.

What are the file requirements?

  • PNG or JPG format

  • 2048 x 2048 pixels (square)

  • 300 DPI

  • Max file size: 5 MB

  • One written description (max 400 words)

Can I use AI tools or image generators?

No. All artwork and written descriptions must be created entirely by the student without the use of AI or image generation tools.

Will my work appear on the website?

Yes. Selected entries, including winners and honorable mentions, will be featured on the BioMonsters website and social media channels.

How will submissions be judged?

A panel will evaluate submissions based on:

  • Creativity (30%)

  • Scientific Basis (30%)

  • Artistic Quality (20%)

  • Written Explanation (20%)

How many students will win?

Four main prizes:

  • First Place

  • Second Place

  • Third Place

  • People’s Choice (via public voting)

What are the prizes?

Winners receive cash prizes ranging from $150 to $500, digital certificates, and featured placements on BioMonsters platforms.

How will I know if I’ve won?

Winners will be contacted via the email used in the submission form. The announcement will also be made publicly on the BioMonsters website.
