Rules & Awards
Eligibility
The BioMonsters International Competition is open to all middle and high school students globally, regardless of educational system or location.
Participants must be enrolled in middle or high school and typically between the ages of 12 and 18 at the time of submission.
Requirements
Artwork must be an original creation by the student, without the use of AI or digital image generation of any kind.
Original digital artwork is allowed but must be the sole and complete work of the student.
Traditional artwork is accepted but must be scanned or photographed clearly.
Dimensions: 2048 x 2048 pixels (square canvas) at 300 DPI
Format: PNG or JPG
File size: Must not exceed 5 megabytes
Only one entry per student is permitted.
A written description (maximum 400 words) must accompany the artwork, clearly explaining:
The BioMonster’s design and biological inspiration
The environmental issue it addresses or the biological concept it represents
Text must be written entirely by the student.
Each submission must be uploaded by a parent or legal guardian.
If a teacher is submitting on behalf of a student, a signed permission form must be included.
Additional terms and conditions must be acknowledged and agreed to as part of the official submission form.
All entries must be submitted through the official BioMonsters website by the posted deadline.

Submitting Entries
The BioMonsters International Competition submission period opens on Monday, April 28, 2025, and closes at 11:59 PM GMT on Friday, June 6, 2025.
We encourage schools, organizations, and educators to support student participation by helping parents submit entries. Each student may submit only one entry.
All submissions must be completed through the official BioMonsters website.
If a teacher is submitting on behalf of a student, they must upload a signed permission form completed by the student’s parent or legal guardian.
Judging
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on the following criteria:
Creativity – Originality and uniqueness of the BioMonster concept (30%)
Scientific Basis – Clear connection to biological principles and environmental relevance (30%)
Artistic Quality – Visual appeal, effort, and clarity of the artwork (20%)
Written Description – Structure, coherence, and explanation of the concept (20%)
All submissions will be reviewed anonymously. Judges will score each entry independently, and the highest-scoring submissions will determine the winners.
Awards
Winners will be selected based on overall judging scores. Prizes will be awarded as follows:
First Place
$500 cash prize

Featured on the BioMonsters website and social media
Second Place
$300 cash prize
Digital Winner Certificate
Featured on the BioMonsters website and social media
Third Place
$200 cash prize
Digital Winner Certificate
Featured on the BioMonsters website and social media
People’s Choice
$150 cash prize
Digital Certificate
Selected via public voting from shortlisted entries
Prizes will be fulfilled digitally, and international winners will be contacted to arrange secure delivery.
Submission Terms & Agreement
By submitting to the BioMonsters International Competition, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms will also appear in the official submission form:
I certify that the artwork and written description submitted are my original work and were not copied, generated using AI, or created by any other person.
I confirm that the submission does not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights and contains no defamatory, offensive, or inappropriate material.
I understand that by submitting, I grant BioMonsters the non-exclusive right to use, reproduce, publish, display, and share the submission, including the artwork, written text, and any related materials—on its website, social media, educational content, and promotional materials, with full credit to the participant.
I also grant BioMonsters the right to reproduce my design on merchandise and promotional items used to support the initiative, including for nonprofit fundraising purposes. No royalties or compensation will be provided for such use, but full credit will be maintained.
I acknowledge that no financial compensation or royalties of any kind will be due now or in the future for any of the permitted uses described above. BioMonsters may also authorize nonprofit third parties (e.g., media partners, educators) to display or distribute the work as deemed appropriate.
I release BioMonsters, its team, and affiliated nonprofit partners from any present or future claims, demands, or liabilities related to the use of the submitted materials as described in this agreement.
I agree that the name, age, school, country, and submitted work may be publicly displayed if selected.
If I am submitting on behalf of a student, I confirm I am their parent or legal guardian and have the authority to grant this permission.
